Placer Gold Claim for Sale $2500

42.19 hectares / 104.25 acres. BC Placer claim 1092805. The property is located 6.5 km northwest of Salmo, British Columbia. From Salmo, proceed west on Highway 3 for 4 km to 2nd Relief Rd. Turn right (north) on 2nd Relied Rd and continue for ~7.5 km directly to the property. The claim centre is at ~ latitude 49.233261° longitude -117.366736°. The claim covers approx. 800 metres of creek frontage per side.

In 1902, the Peterson brothers struck gold by sheer luck whilst digging a well for water. They kept their location secret until the ground was eventually staked and they continued to work it for some time before their deposit became news. The gold at the time was reported to be “a large amount of flour gold”. 35 claims were staked that summer and the Peterson’s sold their ground to the North Fork Placer and Wild Duck Placer companies. The area became active again in 1915 near the mouth of Hooch Creek. Despite the activity on this creek at the time, production records were apparently not kept, so production totals are obscure. Some references also suggest that Erie Creek’s (then known as North Fork Creek) may have been discovered as early as 1860. The placer gold is reported to be coarse (N.L. Barlee (1973), Gold Creeks and Ghost Towns. Canada West Publications.) The largest placer gold nuggets are typically found above and below the clay hardpan.

The area offers a good intensity of hardrock showings, prospects, developed prospects and past producing mines; mostly gold, silver, lead and zinc. This may be the likeliest account for the presence of placer gold in the area gravels. These include the Canadian King, (MINFILE 082FSW203), the Erie-Arlington mine (MINFILE 082FSW205). the Keystone-Delaware mine (MINFILE 082FSW202),the Second Chance mine (MINFILE 082FSW201), The Klovance (Minfile 082FSW381), the Rosa (Minfile 082FSW241)  and the Second Relief Mine (Minfile 082FSW187).
